History is the study of past events that is told from a centered perspective. It is extremely valuable and critical that history also be studied and evaluated from the perspectives of those that have been marginalized to ensure history is both complete, reflective of everyone and accurate. History is only as complete and comprehensive as the narratives from which it is told. Current events and continued inequities highlight the great need for a reckoning and understanding of the founding of America and how past systems, laws, and policies continue to permeate society, inhibiting the ability to fully achieve the desired ideals America aims to hold.
